New Creative quarter for East London

SPACE has been selected by Thames Gateway Development Corporation to manage phase one of a new creative quarter in Barking. Situated on the scenic River Roding, The Malthouse is the first building to be completed in what is set to become a new major creative quarter for East London. The development will enable Barking & Dagenham to advance its cultural and artistic regeneration programme within goal to become a designated creative hub.

Covering 15,000 sq ft, The Malthouse has been converted by Thames Gateway Development Corporation. Officially opening in Spring 2008, SPACE currently seeks creative businesses, organisations & individuals to take up workspace. Ideally located to capitalise on the 2012 Olympics, The Malthouse and the Barking cultural creative quarter is a part of the wider Thames gateway development- the largest regeneration programme in Europe. Building on its reputation for innovative Media Arts and community engagement programmes, SPACE plans to develop further programmes within the area in the future.
