‘Carbonate 1.1’ is a site-specific piece where the monitor screen becomes the gallery space for the webcam data. The work is a study in movement looking at the properties of carbonated water. Filmed on a webcam, it explores the epic quality of miniature bubbles under the microscope. The work is the result of an observation of an everyday event exploring the characteristics of the sparkling water. The title of the work refers to its predecessor ‘Carbonate’ which uses the still image setting on the webcam to capture a photo/still of a similar subject.
