How can a painting based on geometric abstraction contain a protagonist? Meet ‘0’ who inhabits the works by Leinardi in the period 1965 until his death in 2006. The Italian artist approached geometric abstraction with engaging charm. The inconspicuous symbol is a means to explore and understand the ambiguous space (Leinardi) laid out by a geometric composition based on the line and / or cuboid rectangular solid. “With infinite delicacy [Leinardi] recalls a sense of humour which is a profound part of the artist. With much grace and even more nobility, always modest, the straight line makes the zero dance”(Michel Seuphor). After his numerous shows in many of Europe’s capitals and big cities, we are delighted to introduce Ermanno Leinardi to a British audience in his first London show.
