FRED [Leipzig]

A BRIEF HISTORY/PROFILE

FRED [London/Leipzig] is the contemporary art gallery of Fred Mann. Having been involved in various art projects both commercial and not for profit, FRED is his first solo gallery project. The gallery is located in the heart of London’s East-end contemporary art scene at 45 Vyner Street, in a former cardboard box factory converted in 2005 into a 2,500 square foot exhibition space. FRED [London] is committed to exhibiting solo exhibitions by a group of emerging and established international artists.

In September 2006 Fred Mann was awarded a project space in the Leipzig
Spinnerei by Gerd Harry [Judy] Lubke of Eigen + Art. This one year space was a place to both augment and develop the exhibition programme and provided an experimental space for FRED artists to use.

Following the success of this project space, Fred Mann opened FRED [Leipzig] a permanent gallery in the Leipzig Spinnerei on September 15, 2007. The focus of this gallery is to present a series of curated group exhibitions.

FRED has recently begun a series of publications commencing with a monograph on artist Dolly Thompsett and a catalogue on Kate Davis in conjunction with the Wordsworth Trust. Alongside a publishing commitment FRED is keen to invest in artist film and video projects.
