The AOP Gallery has been staging a broad range of photographic exhibitions and events for over 18 years. The gallery is committed to heightening awareness and promoting photography, presenting developments in the medium to a wide audience. Exhibition programmes represent the specific areas of advertising, fashion and editorial photography, incorporating both commercial and personal work, and producing high quality exhibitions of established and upcoming photographers. In so doing, the AOP Gallery exists to provide an appropriate and effective forum within which the membership of the AOP is able to display its creativity and professional excellence. Whilst the greater part of the schedule has always been devoted to the promotion of work of AOP members, through solo and group shows and presentation of the AOP Awards, the gallery has also shown a devotion to the AOP’s wider commitment to the photographic industry as a whole. The gallery’s dedication to showcasing student degree shows, together with its collaborations with various agencies and institutions, has played an extremely important role in raising the profile of the AOP both within the industry and with the general public. Meanwhile, the success of the annual AOP Open competition, featuring the work of both members and non-members alike, has established the gallery as a frontrunner in the celebration of photography.

The AOP Gallery plays a vitally important educational and social role through presenting the opportunity to witness changing styles and trends, providing a forum for the exchange of ideas, encouraging a wide public to visit exhibitions and appreciate photography, and serving as a relaxed and informal meeting place for photographers and others involved in the industry.

The AOP Gallery also provides a suitable environment which may be utilised, hired or sponsored by members, relevant businesses and individuals, for the promotion of their products by way of exhibitions, entertaining or individual events.

These elements are core to the idea of the AOP Gallery being an essential component of the AOP: a multi-purpose environment combining exhibitions, information, events and retail functions. The aim is to provide an integrated programme of exhibitions and educational events that echo developments and debates within professional photography, as well as being the AOP’s human contact point for information and a sales point for the organisation as a whole. In short, providing a space to bring photographers together.

The exhibition schedule includes: solo exhibitions by accomplished and up & coming photographers, group shows of work by AOP members on a variety of themes, and exhibitions of the prestigious Awards schemes organised by the Association of Photographers. The majority of work in the exhibitions is available for sale.
