Fosterart is pleased to announce the opening of Thrill, a solo exhibition of works by Richard Elliott. This will be the artist’s third solo show in London and the inaugural exhibition staged by Fosterart. Richard’s work involves focusing on and expanding upon a visual theme or narrative taken from an everyday object or idea. Using this visual story, he then investigates the process of making painting.

These works are intended as forms of inquiry rather than statement. The result commemorates the honesty of both the original idea and its transformation into paint. Each work has a distinct personality that reveals itself slowly over time, reflecting its surroundings and perhaps suggesting its origin.

Anthony Whishaw RA: “I consider Richard Elliott to be a serious committed artist, innovative in his use both of the usage (abstract) and the complex possibilities of the acrylic medium.”

Sacha Craddock, Turner Prize juror: “I like it!” “An exhibition of Richard Elliott’s work is the perfect way to celebrate the launch of Fosterart and the opening of its Willow Street exhibition and salon space”, says LeAnn Barber, gallery director. “Richard is an inventive, well-respected painter whose work addresses the matters of surviving, and making the most of, our post-industrial urban lifestyle. This was precisely the driving force behind starting Fosterart and why it’s based in former factory space on the edge of the city. My aim is to widen the interest in art that is currently being created, and I’m delighted to show Richard’s work in this new and exciting setting!”
