Rocket presents a new exhibition by the German artist Gerold Miller. Twelve wall-works, from
Miller’s ongoing ‘total object’ series, are exhibited in a site-specific installation.

Miller investigates the common areas between minimalism, pop art and design. His works
oscillate between being objects and being pictures; between abstraction and reality. The ‘objects’
are fabricated in aluminium and sprayed in high-gloss paint.

These are mixed forms from well-established genres, brought to a fine point: wall sculptures that have the character of panel paintings and that resemble each other in kind, but
have individual sizes, colouration, and compositions and are presented interrelatedly in an
installation that relates to its room. There is no serial quality and no repetition, but an
inter-relationship of similarity and deviation – a choreography of differences that Miller arranges in an overall picture. Jens Asthoff

Gerold Miller (D, b1961) lives and works in Berlin, Germany. In 2002 he was the subject of a major
solo show at Nationalgalerie im Hamburger Bahnhof, Museum für Gegenwart, Berlin. In 2003 his
outdoor installation was unveiled at the Daimler Maybach Headquarters in Stuttgart.

This is Miller’s second solo exhibition at Rocket and he has shown in three group shows in London: Berlin/London/Minimal (2002), Circular (2003) and Compilation (2005). In 2008 he will also have
solo shows in Paris, Vienna, Brisbane, Berlin, Zürich, Salzburg and Japan. In March he exhibits with
John Armleder and Gerwald Rockenschaub at Städtische Galerie Altes Theater, Ravensburg.
A catalogue is published by Rocket for this exhibition with each work illustrated and a specially
commissioned essay (in English and German) by Jens Asthoff.
