James Unsworth |
My images show a world where shit eating greedy scumbags; elderly transsexual page three models, faded glamour and popular culture all share the same space. I draw from historical images of folk culture and the popular press. I also draw from contemporary references including the tabloid press and my own documentation of transgressive behaviour. I am currently in the process of transcribing a series of Hogarth paintings ‘The Election'. These drawings update Hogarth's social commentary to address current concerns. Within these images I also question current ideas of taste, beauty, attraction, highness and lowness. James Unsworth 2007 |
