Tomas Hruza
Country of residence Czech RepublicSomewhere on the border between art and tourism, and between an inconspicuous event, its photographic representation and the eventual installation is where the field of interest of Tomas Hruza begins. Like other artists of the younger generation he is concerned with a re-reading of the influences underpinning conceptual and action art, and their usefulness in resuscitating the deflated credit of his principal medium – photography. The themes that he has developed over a long-term basis – the relationship between culture and nature – he renders almost in the spirit of camaraderie; his artistic means are unspectacular, and his endeavor is to fuse together categories which have been separated since the Enlightenment into an organic sense of unity insofar as it is possible within the framework of current stereotypes in communication and the media.
He lives and works in Prague, London and Sumava Mountains and studied at University of J.E. Purkyne, Usti nad Labem
