Stephen Walter

Place of birth London
Country of residence United Kingdom

Stephen Walter finds the act of discovery more vital than what has been discovered when he walks alone in cities and forests. He enjoys the big tourist views too and uses various mediums to create his images. These include photography, screen-print and painting along with repetitively drawn signs and symbols to build up new maps and images. He uses photography to merge background landscapes with foreground surfaces, imbueing everyday and public scenes with a sense of Romanticism and contemplation. Walter`s photomontages present a humorous juxtaposition of unlikely elements and others elevate ordinary scenes using heavenly skies and shows a set of surreal landscapes.

Stephen Walter studied at Middlesex University, Manchester Metropolitan University and the Royal College of Art (2001). He lives and works in London.
