SickBoy

Place of birth United Kingdom
Country of residence United Kingdom

9 April 2008. I was walking around the Brick Lane in the afternoon and saw SickBoy working on a new big piece. He was with two friends helping him, the atmosphere was relaxed and when I stopped to take a look they were friendly. He’s a free hand artist. He doesn’t use stencils. That makes him a painter, the only difference with the traditional definition being the use of spray cans instead of brushes.

He’s one of the most active graffiti artists in the Brick Lane together with Sweet Toof and Cyclops. His logo is reminiscent of the Royal Mail's crown in shape and colours, yellow and red, but SickBoy’s becomes a technological hut with a red heart or an X or a peace sign on top, a sliding door, loud speakers casted in the walls and a switch button, like some sort of sound system. The sound system is a post modern metaphor for the creative individual. He deejays images, sounds and thoughts in order to achieve a bold, loud, effect. He writes “AAGH” and “SAVE THE YOUTH“, probably likes Philip Guston, underground comic strips and he's not a TRAINSPOTTER...A big fat thank you,SickBoy!
