Louise Ashcroft
Date of birth 18.Mar.83Country of residence United Kingdom
Contact ashcroftlouise@googlemail.com www.louiseashcroft.info
Louise Ashcroft’s playful interventions challenge the identity of the sites she inhabits. Creating animation, installation and performance works, Ashcroft experiments in combining truth and fiction, interlinking historical, cultural and geographical fact and theory with her own fantastical accounts. Her work demonstrates a process of research, which has been manipulated to disorientate the audience, emphasising the importance of context as an agent of experience and interpretation.
Ashcroft’s recent exhibitions include a series of warehouse shows with London's Departure Gallery, Mythical Lyrical at Sueli Turner Gallery in East London and Ouroboros, a two-person show with Floss Cobb at Finspace, Finsbury Park. Louise has exhibited widely in group shows and has had solo shows in the crypt of Hawksmoor’s iconic Christ Church Spitalfields and with the site-specific arts organisation Projection at Godstow Nunnery ruins, Oxfordshire.
