We live in a world which is aspires to the 'all knowing'. we have imprisoned ourselves by our obsessive need and expectation to know and be in control. A world where people feel uncomfortable with what it is 'not to know', to be out of control, to be in the dark and lose touch with the experience of the uninformed, raw intuitions….unpredictable processes…incidents and splashes of everyday life that we need to cope with in times of change.


I am currently artist in residence at The Institute for the Future of the Mind in Oxford University (IFM).

“ the idea of doing nothing being so frightening to us” - Baroness Susan Greenfield

I have been exploring the nature of anxiety; engagement with and enrichment of space; what happens when faced with doing nothing; and approaches to engaging with blank space. My work has been inspired by a passage from Susan Greenfield's book 'Tomorrows People':

“ humans were once imprisoned by the dark. As night blacked out the hills and trees our ancestors would have become powerless – watching the world shrink from the bright, wide field of daytime to the shivering compass of a candle. The flickering of flames on a wattle and daub wall would have imposed a different reality of long shadows and uncertain shapes; and always, waiting beyond the edge of light, would have been the unknown, unexplained, half-imagined forces”
