Jeni Snell

Jeni Snell was born in Guernsey in 1972, completed her BA in Fine Art at the University of Sunderland in 1999, and her MA at Central Saint Martins in 2007.

Her work spans a broad variety of media, from drawing and painting to photography, sculpture and installation, but there is something of the 'project' that unites each series of works that Snell undertakes.

Snell is fascinated, it seems, by the remnants of World War Two fortifications that litter the British coastline: perhaps it is the contrast they produce with the surrounding landscape; or perhaps it is the irony of a structure that appears so purely functional, but whose function has long since become obsolete.
