My work is mainly 3D and my practice normally involves the transformation of objects by the addition of everyday materials or substances, making the ordinary ‘uncanny’ and taking the familiar into new territory. The recycling of Found Objects taps into their history and our memories. Each component carries its own meanings and associations which they bring to the finished artwork. I am excited by the idea of taking a now worthless, previously useful object, and painstakingly, meticulously making it still useless but a work of art.

Other concerns include the nature of the art object and sculpture’s history - as well as the social commentary surrounding commercialism. I address environmental issues via my reclamation of redundant manufactured objects in a society caught up in a cycle of accumulation and rapid disposal of possessions. The works in my recent series Money Puzzle are collages made from decommissioned bank notes shredded by the bank of England. The obsessive act of reconstructing elements of the currency inspires the child in viewers who wonder whether it would be possible to pass off the money.
