Start Your Collection

Start Your Collection – Photo edition press release

“Start Your Collection” is much more than a marketing slogan or a promotional statement; rather it is a business innovation in the art world and a unique vehicle to encourage more people to invest small amounts of money in contemporary art by creating or extending their own collection.

Respecting this purpose all artworks exposed at the London Art Fair (14 –18 January 2009) will have a ceiling price of £250 and will represent good value for those who want to build a collection of contemporary art that they can enjoy daily.

Starting small is always a good idea; it enables the collector to “buy into” several different artists and give them a basis for comparison. Due to the credit crunch, an increasing number of people also look for unique artworks at a more affordable price by highly collectible artists. Hence, the concept of this exhibition is showing an exciting contemporary art available at “entry-level” sizes and prices.

In detail, the project will include a selection of photographs by 10 emerging artists, with 2 images available per artist. The print size is 10” x 12” and the edition size is 10. The prints are high quality, professionally printed and mounted on aluminium with a certificate of authenticity provided.

This exhibition represents an excellent opportunity to survey current thought and new trends on photographs and see early stage development of a number of interesting, up-and-coming artists.
All artists selected are educated at top international art colleges and winners of prestigious art prizes.

The participants are: David Bate, Kate Belton, Jonny Briggs, Tina Carr & Anne-Marie Schoene, Justin Coombes, Damian Griffiths, Dawn Woolley, Mandy Lee Jandrell, Gayle Chong Kwan, Jan Lesak, Holly Lynton, Nina Mangalanyagam, Victoria Hall, Patrick Shanahan.
