“When I am dead and forgotten its loveliness will live, gazing back into time – when Ghost meets Ghost”
– Stephen Tennant in his journal regarding his bust just completed by Jacob Epstein.
Maureen Paley is pleased to present When Ghost Meets Ghost, an exhibition of new paintings by Paul P.
A Canadian artist now living and working in Paris, P. makes sensitive painting and drawing studies, taking young men as his predominant subject matter. The figures in these intimate portraits appear as if from another time or place. Paul P. has had recent solo exhibitions at Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac in Paris and Daniel Reich Gallery in New York. This will be his first show at Maureen Paley, and although he has exhibited widely across North America, Europe and Japan, it will be the first opportunity to see his work in London.
Selected exhibitions include Par temps gris, Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac, Paris, 2007, Dusks, Lamplights, The Power Plant, Toronto, 2007, Place Names, the Place, Daniel Reich Gallery, New York, 2007, Blue and Opal, Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac, Salzburg, 2007, The Yellow Room, Marc Selwyn Fine Art, Los Angeles, 2007, A Grey Note, Gallery Side 2, Tokyo, 2005, In the Shadow of Young Girls in Bloom, Galerie Lisa Ruyter, Vienna, 2004, Last Flowers, Daniel Reich Gallery, New York, 2003.
